Guilty as charged: non-innocent behavior by a pincer ligand featuring a central cationic phosphenium donor.

چکیده
The synthesis of a new pincer ligand containing a central cationic N-heterocyclic phosphenium donor is described. The electrophilic nature of this cationic ligand renders it non-innocent, and coordination of this ligand to a PtCl(2) fragment leads to chloride migration from Pt to the cationic phosphorus center.

Non-innocent reactivity of bis-phosphinimine pincer ligands in palladium complexes.
Although the Pd complex of the bis-phosphinimine pincer ligand 1,3-C(6)H(3)(CH(2)N=PPh(3))(2) is accessible, this ligand is also non-innocent in the formation of a phosphinimine-aminophosphine pincer complex; as well, both complexes undergo hydride abstraction generating unique formally cationic ligand complexes.

A Ni(0)-NCN pincer complex featuring a six-membered N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) central platform and amidine pendant arms was synthesized by deprotonation of its Ni(II) precursor. It retained chloride in the square-planar coordination sphere of nickel and was expected to be highly susceptible to oxidative addition reactions. The Ni(0) complex rapidly activated ammonia at room temperature, in a...
متن کاملN-heterocyclic phosphenium and phosphido nickel complexes supported by a pincer ligand framework.
A chelating diphosphine ligand with a central N-heterocyclic phosphenium cation (NHP(+)) has been used to explore the coordination chemistry of NHPs with nickel. Treatment of the chlorophosphine precursor [PPP]Cl (1) with stoichiometric Ni(COD)2 affords (PPP)NiCl (8), which is best described as a Ni(II)/NHP(-) phosphido complex formed via oxidative addition of the P-Cl bond. In contrast, treati...
متن کاملCoordination chemistry of cyclopropenylidene-stabilized phosphenium cations: synthesis and reactivity of Pd and Pt complexes.
A straightforward synthesis of cyclopropenylidene-stabilized phosphenium cations 1 a-g through the reaction of [(iPr2N)2C3(+)Cl]BF4 with secondary phosphines is described. Their donor ability was evaluated by analysis of the CO stretching frequency in Rh complexes [RhCl(CO)L2](BF4)2 and electrochemical methods. The cyclopropenium ring induces a phosphite-type behavior that can be tuned by the o...
متن کاملA new approach to internal Lewis pairs featuring a phosphenium acid and a pyridine base.
A bis(imino)acenaphthene (BIAN) ligand containing a pendant Lewis base has been used as a new framework to support a N-heterocyclic phosphenium cation (NHP). Reactivity studies demonstrate the ability of the ligand to act as a Lewis base, while the phosphorus centre provides a Lewis acidic site, giving new opportunities in NHP chemistry.
